Mission & Vision
Where God Leads
We affirm the responsibility of the church in each generation to make this faith its own in reality of worship, in honesty of thought and expression, and in purity of heart before God.
We the members of the Community Church of Cedar Grove profess Jesus Christ as our Lord and invite all to join us in the fellowship of believers.
We seek with God’s help to:
Covenant one with another to seek and respond to the Word and the will of God;
Depend on the Holy Spirit to lead and empower us;
Walk together in the ways of the Lord, made known and to be made known to us through a loving, friendly and supportive church family that nurtures, trusts, and cares for one another in times of celebration and need;
Be faithful and active in our responsibility as church members by contributing according to our individual strengths;
Attend services regularly giving support to the staff and members of our church family;
Respect our children and youth and to encourage them to participate in the life of our church through worship service, church school, and youth activities while nurturing their spiritual development;
Witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ in our congregation, our community, and all the world, while worshipping God, striving for truth, justice, and peace for all;
Look forward with faith toward the triumph of righteousness and eternal life as we strive to fulfill this mission.

Who We Are
Christ's Foundation
The Community Church of Cedar Grove, United Church of Christ, acknowledges as its sole Head, Jesus Christ, the Son of God and the Savior of us all.
We believe in God, the Eternal Spirit, who is made known to us in Jesus our brother, and to whose deeds we testify:
God calls the world into being, creates humankind in the divine image, and sets before us the ways of life and death.
God seeks in holy love to save all people from aimlessness and sin.
God judges all humanity and nations by that will of righteousness declared through prophets and apostles.
In Jesus Christ, the man of Nazareth, our crucified and risen Lord, God has come to us and shared our common lot, conquering sin and death and reconciling the world to the Creator.
God bestows upon us the Holy Spirit, creating and renewing the Church of Jesus Christ, binding in covenant faithful people of all ages, tongues, and races.
God calls us into his Church to accept the cost and joy of discipleship, to be servants in the service of the whole human family, to proclaim the gospel to all the world and resist the powers of evil, to share in Christ’s baptism and eat at his table, to join him in his passion and victory.
God promises to all who trust in the gospel forgiveness of sins and fullness of grace, courage in the struggle for justice and peace, and the presence of the Holy Spirit in trial and rejoicing, and eternal life in that kingdom which has no end.
Blessing and honor, glory and power be unto God. Amen
People from all walks of life are here at Community Church. Some of us grew up in the church and others were raised in different faith traditions, while others of us didn’t grow up with any faith tradition. But at Community Church, we find a place where everyone has a place at the table. We are committed to following the example that Jesus set for us: to love and serve others.
The United Church of Christ is a bottom-up organization, which is exactly the opposite of most mainline denominations. The direction, governance, and finances happen at the local church level and are moved upward to determine the UCC’s direction and passion. That is one reason why you will find UCC churches from many different backgrounds, Lutheran, Baptist, Evangelical & Reformed, Congregational, Korean, Pacific Islander, and Community churches. Congregations like the philosophy of the United Church of Christ, while also maintaining their founding identity. If social justice and serving others is your passion, then you have come to the right place!
