Rev. David L. Snyder
Rev. David Snyder was born in Indiana, December 25, 1954. He was brought up in the First Baptist Church of Indianapolis. He first experienced the call to ministry as a youth on a church retreat. Following that call through college Dave graduated from Indiana State University in 1976 and entered Andover Newton Theological School. He earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1981. He was ordained into Christian ministry July 26, 1981.

Rev. Dave’s first pastorate was in a yoked parish of the First Congregational Church of Tamworth, and the Community Baptist Church of Chocorua, New Hampshire. Following that pastorate, he served in various ministry settings that included interfaith work, campus ministry work, interim ministry work, and most recently settled ministry in the First Congregational Church of South Windsor, Connecticut.

During the course of Rev. Dave’s ministry he has enjoyed working with people of all ages. He delights in the various moments of church life, for instance the special moments of offering Baptisms and Weddings are a true delight for him. The special times of fellowship such as the gathering of the church for lunch, pot luck dinners, or soup suppers, have played an important role in deepening his own faith. Rev. Dave has helped to lead and organize mission trips for youth, young adults and older adults. The chance to be together in small groups reaching out to lend a hand to others has been a significant cherished experience for him.

Rev. Dave has three grown children, Jonathan, Joanna and Rachel who delight him and challenge him. He has one grandchild age 8, Jonathan, Jr. who loves to play soccer and enjoys being outdoors with Grandpa.

Rev. Dave enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, gardening, cooking, the theater, and attending church gatherings and mission trips. He has a love for family, the earth, the ocean, and for quiet moments thanking God for the many gifts God has given. He looks forward to many years ahead working with people of faith and growing in faith and love together.

Director of Christian Education
Luke Higgins

Luke is currently a PhD. student in theology at Drew University in Madison, NJ. He holds a Masters of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California, and a B.A. in Philosophy from University of California, Santa Cruz. He is currently “in care” with the Connecticut conference to be ordained in the United Church of Christ. Once his doctorate is complete he hopes to move into ministry through teaching theology at the seminary and/or university level.

Luke has a wide range of experiences working with young people, including teaching elementary school and special education, running programs for children at bookstores and museums, and interning as a campus minister. Working with children and young people has always brought joy, spontaneity and richness into his life and he loves to share that passion with younger and older people alike. Luke also brings with him a deep love of music, which he shares through his singing, guitar playing, song leading, and even occasional song writing.

Currently, Luke coordinates all our educational programs for children and youth. He is the primary teacher for the 6th – 8th grade Church school class and leads the Sunday evening youth group. Luke is available at the church in his office on Tuesday mornings/afternoons (10:30 – 2) and on Sunday mornings. He is always enthusiastically open to have a “deep” conversation with you about God, the cosmos, the meaning of life – or anything else you want to talk about!spacer320.gif (834 bytes)
