Rev. David L. Snyder
Rev.
David Snyder was born in Indiana, December 25, 1954. He was brought
up in the First Baptist Church of Indianapolis. He first experienced
the call to ministry as a youth on a church retreat. Following that
call through college Dave graduated from Indiana State University in
1976 and entered Andover Newton Theological School. He earned a
Master of Divinity degree in 1981. He was ordained into Christian
ministry July 26, 1981.
Rev. Dave’s first pastorate was in a
yoked parish of the First Congregational Church of Tamworth, and the
Community Baptist Church of Chocorua, New Hampshire. Following that
pastorate, he served in various ministry settings that included
interfaith work, campus ministry work, interim ministry work, and
most recently settled ministry in the First Congregational Church of
South Windsor, Connecticut.
During the course of Rev. Dave’s
ministry he has enjoyed working with people of all ages. He delights
in the various moments of church life, for instance the special
moments of offering Baptisms and Weddings are a true delight for
him. The special times of fellowship such as the gathering of the
church for lunch, pot luck dinners, or soup suppers, have played an
important role in deepening his own faith. Rev. Dave has helped to
lead and organize mission trips for youth, young adults and older
adults. The chance to be together in small groups reaching out to
lend a hand to others has been a significant cherished experience
for him.
Rev. Dave has three grown children,
Jonathan, Joanna and Rachel who delight him and challenge him. He
has one grandchild age 8, Jonathan, Jr. who loves to play soccer and
enjoys being outdoors with Grandpa.
Rev. Dave enjoys
traveling, reading, hiking, gardening, cooking, the theater, and attending church gatherings and mission
trips. He has a love for family, the earth, the ocean, and for
quiet moments thanking God for the many gifts God has given. He
looks forward to many years ahead working with people of faith and
growing in faith and love together. |
